Abstract: Vigorously developing wind power and other renewable energy is not only a critical national strategic decision, but also an objective requirement to realize sustainable economic and social development in China. For insurers to underwrite large-sized wind power projects and properly process insurance claims, it is of great significance to develop a thorough understanding of the prospects of wind power generation and an ability to identify and assess risks that lie in the equipment manufacture stage, the project construction period and the operation cycle. This paper describes the development trends of the wind power industry, presents and analyzes the risks in the industry based on risk assessment matrix, and studies wind power insurance cases from a multi-dimensional perspective on project underwriting and risk control.
