Analysis and Optimization of Short-Circuit Calculation Method in CSG Based on IEC60909

Abstract: With sustained growth of load and improvement of power-grid, short-circuit current is close to upper limit, which is a key factor to operation security of China Southern Power Grid (CSG). Compared with actual measurement, short-circuit current calculation in existing method is on optimistic side, which brings difficulty to power operation mode arrangement. Based on IEC60909 and GB/T 15544 standard, short circuit current calculation results in CSG are compared with results from methods used in other corporations. The main impacting factors of short-circuit current calculation are analyzed on summer-peak load operation mode of CSG in 2013. With consideration of different requirement including accuracy, conservation and equipment capacity, the improvement measure of short-circuit current calculation in CSG is proposed.
