Abstract: The optimization of low load operation for a supercritical 600-MW steam turbine made by Dongfang Steam Turbine Co. Ltd. is presented to improve the economics of the unit under the low load condition. According to the unit practical operation status and its own characteristics, first the sequence valve control mode is adopted through optimizing the management curve for the HP control valve, and then the optimized control curve of sliding pressure operation is gained by optimizing the sliding pressure operation. The tests for comparison between the thermal efficiency before and after the optimization are performed, which indicates that the optimized operation mode can effectively improve the unit economics under the low load condition.
