Abstract: With the distributed generation connected to the power distribution network, the current becomes a bidirectional flow, which results in the traditional fault location method no longer applicable. In order to solve the problem of fault section location in power distribution network with distributed generation, a fault location method based on reachability matrix and Bayes' theorem is put forward. Different from the idea of using adjacency matrix to describe the network topology in traditional matrix algorithm, the reachable matrix which contained more information and had stronger global observability is used for topology description and matrix operation in this paper. To deal with information distortion, the Bayes' theorem is utilized in fault tolerance processing to find out the fault section(s). Simulation results of test cases show that the proposed method has good generality as it can handle both generator-based and inverter-based distributed generation in a uniform way. For single fault and multiple faults in the distribution network with distributed generation, the proposed method can locate fault section(s) accurately and has certain fault tolerance.
