Wind Power Curtailment Index and Sequence Model for Power Systems

Abstract: With the rapid increase of wind power curtailment, the wind power curtailment issue becomes a serious problem. In this paper, the evaluation indexes of the wind power curtailment sequence of power system are put forward: the distribution of the wind curtailment period, wind curtailment continuous duration and wind continuous curtailment generation. A method of wind curtailment sequence model based on the time sequence production simulation is proposed. Wind curtailment sequence is calculated based on the renewable energy time sequence production simulation which maximizes the integration of renewable energy. The simulation results show the validity of the wind curtailment model method based on the time sequence production simulation by comparing the actual sequence and simulated sequence characteristic of the wind curtailment. At the same time, under the circumstance of high proportion of wind power, the ratio of long wind curtailment continuous duration increase significantly and the wind power curtailment problem becomes more serious.
