Abstract: Bearing ablation directly affects the safe operation of steam turbines. In this article the analysis on bearing ablation of three 650 MW steam turbines in China Resources Power(Changshu) Co., Ltd. is conducted. It is concluded from the analysis that the main cause of bearing ablation is the sludge deposition generated from turbine oil aging. When the turbine oil is regenerated, the problems of oil aging and bearing ablation are solved. Since the turbine oil quality has direct effects on the safe and stable operation of the unit, more attention should be given to turbine oil aging and measures on regular operation maintenance of turbine oil are proposed.
