Abstract: Distributed generation(DG) brings many new challenges to future distribution network planning. Based on the traditional distribution network planning, a new planning is made for active distribution networks with related standards taken into account. In the process of network planning, the power grids that are in operation and the output of distributed generation are selected as optimization variables while the environmental cost caused by power network carbon emission is set as evaluation criteria. By taking the 14-bus system as an example, the genetic algorithm (GA) and cuckoo search (CS) algorithm are combined and improved according to the actual situation of power network. Finally, in the MATLAB environment, the MATPOWER is used as a flow calculation tool to achieve the low-carbon planning of active distribution network. The results of case study show that the proposed planning method is simple and effective, which can provide a reference to the active distribution network planning for low-carbon economy.
