Abstract: Power system restoration is a highly complex decision and control problem. An online power system smart restoration (PSSR) tool is developed based on decoupling complex problem into multiple stages associated with different objectives and constraints. The software is able to obtain real-time data from D5000 dispatching platform. Based on actual system conditions, PSSR can assist operators in developing detailed restoration strategies without violating operational constraints. The developed system has been deployed in Chongqing Electric Power Company and generated effective system restoration strategies. Implementation of PSSR can increase system operators’ capabilities of restoring system, reduce outage time and improve system reliability.
