Abstract: Based on the implementation of the feed water bypass of the HP heater in a 1 050 MW ultra-supercritical power unit, this paper introduces the primary frequency test at the maximum regulating capacity under the feed water bypass control mode. In the test, the characteristics of feed water bypass control regulation at the designed value are obtained and compared with those of combined regulation methods. According to the load response characteristics, the feed water temperature falling of the economizer inlet and outlet and the utilization efficiency of the boiler thermal storage, the boundary conditions of the primary frequency regulation operation are discussed under the feed water bypass control mode. At last the energy-saving hybrid frequency modulation scheme is proposed for the ultra- supercritical unit. The study results provide experimental evidence for excavating the regenerative potential of the ultra-supercritical unit and for the exploration of the primary frequency modulation capability enhancement of the ultra-supercritical power generation unit in the UHV receiving end power grid.
