Abstract: Large amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have significantly exacerbated the greenhouse effect and the deterioration of the ecological environment. The catalytic transfer hydrogenation method has been extensively studied and technically mature in the field of CO2 resource utilization. In this paper, the study of the CO2 catalytic hydrogenation technology with gaseous hydrogen as the main reductant, the reduction characteristics of the hydrogen donors, and current applications are summarized. The pros and cons of the studies are presented as well. Finally, suggestions are given for future research on the application of the hydrogen donors in the field of carbon capture and resource utilization, aiming to provide references for the future development of CO2 resource utilization.

Key words: coal-fired power generation, carbon dioxide, gaseous hydrogen, hydrogen donor, resource utilization
