Abstract: In the long term, the energy shortage of Guangxi Autonomous Region will be compensated by outside hydropower energy from DC transmission. However, multi-infeed HVDC has impact on power system operation security and stability. Several problems related to multi-infeed HVDC system in Guangxi grid are analyzed based on power construction planning, power acceptance planning and current operation conditions. The problems include infeed system location, scale, mutual impact and possible risk on gird security and stability. Preliminary judgment indicated that Guangxi power grid has ability to accept Multi-infeed HVDC. However, further research is needed for the detailed connection scheme.

Key words: Guangxi power grid, multi-infeed HVDC systems, security and stability
