Abstract: By taking advantage of the maintenance records together with the principle of corrosion electrochemistry, the corrosion that may occur during the service period of hot-dipped components in power transmission grid is analyzed. Considering the operating conditions and the service environments, the corrosion of components including transmission tower, anchor clamp, connecting piece, earth wire and stay wire, is classified and the corrosion mechanism is studied. In addition, several methods for life forecast of zinc coating are introduced, and related preventive measures are proposed based on the characteristic of service environment. Finally, it is proposed that the research of corrosion mechanism, protection technology and life forecast for hot-dipped components in power transmission grid under different service circumstances should be enhanced for the purpose of secure operation of the electric power system.
