Abstract: A control system of superior coordinated control quality is vital to the secure, stable and economic operation of a power generation unit and even the electric grid. Taking a 620 MW supercritical unit equipped with double inlet and outlet mills and a W-flame once-through boiler as the study object, a coordinated control strategy based on soft sensing of the feed coal quantity and its engineering application effectiveness are presented. The components of each control loop command in the coordinated control system and the mutual coupling relationship are analyzed in details. According to the test results under actual load fluctuations, the control defects are figured out, and the corresponding optimization scheme is conducted. The results after optimization suggest that the controls over the operating parameters such as the unit load, the main steam pressure and the main steam temperature are in steady state with both the dynamic and static control qualities exceeding the standard requirements.
