Abstract: Through the analysis on the transient characteristics of analog power transducer commonly used in thermal power generating units, it is discovered that none of the analog power transducers of various types have exhibited satisfactory transient performance. In the event of faults or disturbances in the power grid, their output signal may be distorted, which will probably lead to valve misoperation. In addition, the analysis concludes that the long response time and small internal AT saturation are the root causes of the analog power transducer output waveform distortion. Therefore, a new type of power transmitting device is introduced. Based on the analysis on the existing problems in power transducer applications and alterations, it is recommended to replace the traditional power transducer with the new type of power transmitting device to prevent valve misoperation if the valve fast operation functionality is included in the unit DEH system.
