Research of Live Working Gap Discharging Characteristics on UHV Steel Tubular Tower Transmission Lines

Abstract: Along with construction and development of UHV transmission project, steel tubular towers have been widely used. In order to ensure live working safety on UHV steel tubular tower, electric field distribution around UHV steel tubular tower and angle-steel tower are simulated. The impulse discharging characteristics of various typical live working conditions through 1∶1 steel tubular tower model test are analyzed and safety distance for live working under various conditions are obtained. Difference of impulse discharging characteristics between steel tubular tower and angle-steel tower is analyzed by impulse discharging test. The research result can provide technical support for live working on UHV steel tubular tower transmission lines.
