Abstract: Mixed 10 kV and 110 kV transmission lines on the same tower can save land resources effectively and make full use of the line corridor. When the 10 kV distribution line is for maintenance, induced voltage and current will occur on the examining line duo to electrostatic and electromagnetic coupling, which may cause harm to the maintenance workers. Furthermore, the synthesis electric field from the mixed transmission lines may also adversely affect the live workers. The ATP-EMTP is used in this paper to calculate the induced voltage and current during maintenance of the 10 kV lines. Both the ANSYS and electric field measurement are used to study the spatial electric field distribution of the mixed lines and the body surface electric field distribution of workers, based on which the security protection method is proposed for maintenance of the mixed 10 kV and 110 kV transmission lines.
