Abstract: To ensure live working safety on 1 000 kV UHV AC compact transmission lines, it is necessary to study the influence of electric field to operating personnel. By using finite element method, field strength on body surface at each typical work site during live working on the UHV AC compact transmission lines are calculated, and the distribution characteristic of field strength is analyzed. Safety precautions are proposed according to simulation results. The results show that, the electric field on parts of smaller radius of curvature including head and hands are larger than that of other parts, and electric field of body surface reaches maximum during equal-potential operation. The screen clothes with a shielding efficiency no less than 60 dB meet safety requirements. The research results can provide an effective technical support for the live working safety on 1 000 kV UHV AC compact transmission lines.
