Abstract: With the construction of a new power system, the large-scale development of renewable energy will lead to a seriously insufficient utilization rate of renewable energy and balance problems of power and electricity, which can be significantly alleviated by configuring a suitable energy storage system (ESS). In this paper, an ESS planning method considering the difference of multi-partition assessment objectives for provincial power grids is studied based on a self-developed time series production simulation software that contains power system structure and tie-line transaction constraints. Firstly, the algorithm framework of the time series production simulation software is introduced. Then according to this software, an optimal configuration method for energy storage capacity is proposed, with the minimum investment cost of energy storage as the objective function, after considering the differences in assessment objectives and tie-line transaction constraints of each partition. Finally, calculation and sensitivity analysis are performed on a planned provincial power grid integrated with renewable energy with a high proportion in northwest China, which verifies the rationality and utility of the proposed method.
