Abstract: In view of the present situation of ultra-high voltage(UHV) power grid construction in northern Hebei, the multi-rotor UAV patrol inspection is proposed as a new technique for construction management. Based on the characteristics of multi-rotor UAV’s structure and flight control system, a model is constructed to make a systematical analysis. In light of the actual characteristics of power grid construction, the UAV patrol and evaluation program, including checklist method and special program fault tree analysis method, is established to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of the construction sites. Finally, according to the actual application results, the effectiveness of UAV patrol is evaluated in terms of inspection time and cost saving, safety risk mitigation, compensation reduction, and environmental protection improvement. It is proved that UAV patrol used in grid construction can broaden the scope of construction management, reduce on-site construction control loopholes, lower on-site management risks, and improve working efficiency.
