Abstract: Contingency screening and ranking is an important part of power system voltage stability assessment. In view of the unicity of the existing power flow-based contingency screening method, a new contingency screening and ranking method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a contingency screening index system is built by considering the characteristics of induction motor, load capacity, power support and transmission lines. Secondly, in view of the limits of single index in reflecting the severity of contingency, the grey correlation analysis method is used to obtain the integrated index and to assess severity of contingency by integrating multiple factors. The proposed method is verified through the data of an actual power network which has voltage stability problems. The result shows that the voltage stability contingency screening and ranking method based on grey correlation analysis is reasonable and effective.
