Study on Intellectualized Pressure Drop Coefficient Calculation for LHSI Pump in PWR Nuclear Power Plants

Abstract: In order to ensure the data synchronization, the measurement parameters are acquired from transmitters instead of local temporary instruments, and then computed in the control system to obtain the pressure drop coefficient at the intake of LHSI pump. In addition, using the known LHSI pump flow and head under RWST condition, the pump flow and head of the sump suction condition are derived according to the deduction model and the usable NPSHa is calculated conservatively by utilizing the pressure drop between the sump and the pump suction. The research of intelligent calculation on pressure drop coefficient at LHSI pump intake has been successfully applied in smart power stations, which can provide important original input with accurate and credible data for the study on LHSI pump safe operation in the event of the LOCA in nuclear power plants.
