Abstract: There have been prominent contradictions between wind power and combined heat and power plant in the heating areas of Northern China. In order to improve load peak regulation of power grid and wind power accommodation, a calculation model and corresponding software were developed to study the peaking capability of combined heat and power plant by using thermal balance method, equivalent enthalpy drop method and Frugal formula. The maximum power generation and minimum power generation for 300-MW and 350 MW combined heat and power plant under the conditions of different steam extracting mount and steam extracting pressure were calculated by taking into account the influences of steam-water loss on peak regulation capability. The conclusion will be beneficial to take full advantages of the peak regulation capability of existing combined heat and power plant and promote wind power accommodation in northern heating areas.
