Abstract: A decoupling UPFC power flow control model is established in this paper, which is adaptive with Power System Analysis Software Package(PSASP). On the series side of UPFC, the q-axis and d-axis components of the series-injected voltage are used to control the active and reactive power of the transmission line, respectively. On the shunt side of UPFC, the q-axis component of the UPFC shunt current is used to control the bus voltage of the UPFC-connected point based on the instantaneous power theory. The UPFC power flow control goals are achieved by regulating the injection current of the buses where UPFC is embedded into the system. The established power flow control model is applied to a 500 kV power grid and the calculation results verify that the model is accurate and feasible and can be used for engineering research and analysis of practical power grids with UPFC.
