Research on Electric Field Characteristics of Busbar in HVDC Converter Substation

Abstract: Study of electric field characteristics of busbar in the HVDC substation is substaintial to the substation design. Based on the Deutsch assumption, a computation model is established in this paper for the busbar surface electric field and ground total electric field of converter substation and the controlling indices of the total electric field are proposed for the ±800 kV converter substation. With this model, the corona characteristics and the total electric field of various typies of busbars are calculated and the height range of busbar installation and the total electric field on the ground is obtained. As a conclusion, the busbar type and installation method in the ±800 kV converter substation is suggested.
