The new urban power grid supporting the operation of the main grid needs to rely on the virtual power plant and other media to regulate the massive distributed power, microgrid, and load resources with different characteristics, and the power market mechanism is an important means for the virtual power plant to effectively regulate the massive resources inside. However, the market mechanism and operation key technology of the virtual power plant for the new urban power grid still face many challenges: on the one hand, the existing power market rules and trading mechanisms, the price formation mechanism it is difficult to fully reflect the flexible value and multi-dimensional attributes of distributed resources, and the access mechanism, trading mode and benefit distribution system for the power plant to participate in the spot, power auxiliary services and capacity and other markets need to be improved. On the other hand, key technologies such as cross-regional, multitype resource aggregation modeling and state perception, multi-time-scale collaborative scheduling and risk prevention and control, metering settlement and credit evaluation still need to be broken through
In view of this, in-depth exploration of the power market mechanism and key operating technologies that support the new urban power grid has important significance for building a new power system that is clean, low-carbon, safe, reliable, flexible, and efficient, breaking the institutional constraints in the process of urban energy transformation, activating the potential value of distributed energy and flexible load participating in the power market. The editorial department of China Electric Power specially invited Yang Xiuyu, Deputy Director of the of Electric Power of Northeast Electric Power University, Professor Ye Yujian of Southeast University, Associate Professor Zhang Rui of Northeast Electric Power University, Deputy Director Cong Ye of the Energy Price Research Center of the Modern Electric Power Research Institute of North China Electric Power University, and Associate Professor Mo Jingshan of Northeast Electric Power University to jointly serve as guest editors, organize and plan the special column "Power Market Mechanism and Key Operating Technologies Supporting New Urban Power Grids", aiming to build a high-level academic exchange and transformation platform the field of virtual power plants and new urban power grids, gathering cutting-edge research results in the design of power market and price formation mechanism, operation control and engineering demonstration of power plants, demonstrating innovative theoretical methods and new application practices of multi-resource aggregation and flexible dispatch, promoting deep integration of industry, education, and research and cross-regional collaborative, and jointly promoting the large-scale application and high-quality development of virtual power plants in new urban power grids.
