Power markets can optimize the allocation of resources in the power sector at different time scales. Countries have developed their own market structures and mechanisms. However, most power markets are designed for power systems dominated by fossil fuels. With the increase in clean energy (such as hydropower, wind power, solar power) and energy storage (such as pumped - storage hydroelectricity, electrochemical energy storage), the existing market designs may not be able to integrate renewable energy and ensure power load. Therefore, it is necessary to study the topic of power markets with high shares of clean energy and energy storage.

Special Session 4: Smart Energy-Smart Transportation Coupling under the "Dual Carbon" Goal

Driven by the global low - carbon vision, the rapid penetration of electric vehicles/hydrogen - fuel vehicles and the extensive deployment of energy refueling stations will greatly deepen the interdependence between the energy system and the transportation system, promoting the formation of the integrated energy - transportation system (IETS). At the same time, the development of smart transportation systems has brought many emerging concepts, such as vehicle sharing and autonomous driving, which will profoundly reshape the IETS dominated by manual driving. In addition, the development of technologies such as power - to - hydrogen and integrated photovoltaic - energy storage charging stations has also greatly enriched the connotation of the energy field. The above - mentioned changes urgently require the development of advanced modeling and simulation technologies, and also open up new research directions in the field of IETS.
