Abstract: Aiming at the factors affecting the operation of AGC (Automatic Generation Control) system after the low NOx combustion retrofit implemented in the boiler, the reason analysis is conducted, and the specific measures are taken to improve the unit load control strategies. The measures include the boiler master control feedforward signal, the steam turbine load demand, the primary frequency control logic, the load adjustment by PAP (primary air pressure), and the control loops of the mill hot air and bypass air dampers. In addition, the combustion control model is improved based on the changes of the boiler’s features. The technical and economic analysis on these measures and the comparison between the control parameters have shown that the AGC indices are enhanced substantially.
