Abstract:
With the accelerating pace of China's low-carbon energy transition, independent energy storage, as a key component of the generation, grid, load, and storage, has become an indispensable part of the construction of the new power system. 2025 marks the year for the preliminary establishment of a unified national power market. Against the backdrop of policies enabling the full market entry of new energy sources, regional electricity spot markets are advancing rapidly, ancillary service markets are expanding in variety, and capacity markets are undergoing pilot explorations—all presenting new opportunities for independent energy storage. Based on the current development status of the electricity market, integrating the progress of independent energy storage development in each province (regions), it conducts an economic assessment for 19 provinces (regions), examines the underlying reasons for disparities in development progress, and offers a quantitative analysis of the impacts of two critical factors: the operation of future spot markets and the impact of capacity leasing exit mechanisms. The study aims to provide insights and references for the development of independent energy storage in China.
